Speakers during an event to commemorate the International Day of Solidarity with Our People call for pressure on the occupation to stop the war of extermination
Ramallah 27-11-2024 - Speakers called on Wednesday, during an event to commemorate the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People, to pressure the occupation government to stop the war of extermination in the Gaza Strip.
The event came under the slogan: "Our Right to Security, Protection and an Independent State", under the patronage of the President of the State of Palestine, Mahmoud Abbas, and organized by: the Union of Writers the Yasser Arafat Foundation, the International Academic Campaign against Occupation and Apartheid, the Committee to Resist the Wall and Settlements, the Human Rights and Civil Society Department of the PLO, the National Library, the Global Campaign for Education, the Prisoners' Club, the Palestine Institute for National Security Research, the Palestinian Educational Coalition, the Student Forum, and the presence of a number of members of the Executive Committees of the PLO and the Central Organization. to Fatah, the governor of Ramallah and al-Bireh, Laila Ghannam, ambassadors and the diplomatic corps.
Mahmoud Al-Aloul, deputy head of Fatah, representing President Mahmoud Abbas, said in his completion of the event held at the Martyr Yasser Arafat Museum in Ramallah: "We do not forget the movement of peoples that inspire us with hope, and the permanent marches in the capitals of the countries of the world, in support of Gaza against ethnic cleansing, attacks on citizens in the West Bank, including Jerusalem, and the crimes committed by the occupation against our prisoners, including killing, starvation and intimidation."
He stressed the commitment to seek a just and comprehensive peace for our people, who have been suffering for many decades, and will remain firm on their land and uphold their rights.
Calling on the international community to translate its solidarity with Palestine into practical steps, stressing the continuation of the political and legal struggle in order to mobilize support for our just cause.
He stressed that the urgent priority is the immediate implementation of the Security Council resolution, which calls for an immediate ceasefire, the provision of aid, and the withdrawal of the occupation from Gaza, continuing: "We will continue with our partners to work to obtain recognition of the State of Palestine, and we call for the convening of an international peace conference to put an end to the conflict."
He also added: "We are making intensive efforts to achieve national reconciliation on the basis of commitment to international legitimacy, and we seek to agree with everyone on national understandings to enable the Palestinian government to manage the Gaza Strip and the return of the displaced to their homes as a step for the beginning of reconstruction." For his part, Murad al-Sudani, Secretary-General of the Union of Palestinian Writers, said, "On this day, the free world aims its victory arrow at Palestine, which has remained on the covenant, as it is the extension of the world towards truth and truth."
He called for the world to be whiter after the end of the occupations, as there is no room for joy without Palestine.
For his part, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Yasser Arafat Foundation, Ahmed Sobh, said that we need to make additional efforts to the Palestinian national understandings to prevent any unacceptable external interference, calling for Palestinian unity.
Ramzi Odeh, secretary-general of the academic campaign, said that 120 Palestinian martyrs from the campaign were raised in Gaza, and most of the campaign members are in the tents of the hungry displaced. He added that in the midst of the blockade, members of the campaign created a magazine Fikr to oral chronicle testimonies from citizens who were targeted in Gaza.
For his part, Tunisian Ambassador to Palestine, Habib Ben Farah said that the occupation has carried out many crimes in Gaza, and there is nothing left for the occupation to do, so that the international community bears its responsibilities to stop the crimes of the occupation in Gaza and oblige the occupation to cease fire. He added that the aggression against the Palestinian people did not begin on the seventh of October only, but is linked to the history of the occupation of Palestine for decades, and what Gaza Strip suffers is unprecedented. He continued: Israel uses the weapon of siege and deliberate starvation in its war, in a widespread attempt to push citizens in Gaza to emigrate, in violation of all international laws. He called for the implementation of the resolutions of the International Criminal Court and the rule of international law, the implementation of United Nations resolutions, and the obligation of the occupation to reopen the crossings without conditions for the entry of aid and provide full support to UNRWA.
What is happening in Gaza is a political crisis, and peace and the establishment of an independent Palestinian state must be aligned. He pointed out that this day receives attention at the official, popular, institutional and media levels in Tunisia, to
emphasize the support of the Palestinian cause, and Tunisia will continue to lead the leadership, government and people loyal support for Palestine, triumphant for its legitimate rights and support its liberation from occupation, to obtain its rights and independence, stressing his country's commitment to supporting the Palestinian right and respecting the independent national decision of the Palestinian people.
For his part, Chinese Ambassador to the State of Palestine, Zheng Jixin, stressed his country's support for the Palestinian people suffering from occupation, and the need to achieve peace. He added that the Palestinian cause is linked to justice, and the priority is the ceasefire and the implementation of legitimacy resolutions, and the permanent solution is the establishment of an independent Palestinian state on the 1967 borders.
He stressed China's support for Palestine's full membership in the United Nations, the convening of an international peace conference, and support for UNRWA to continue providing assistance to the Palestinian people.
Muayad Shaaban, head of the Committee to Resist the Wall and Settlements, said that Gaza is still groaning, Gaza's children and women are still burning, deliberate forced displacement remains, Jerusalem is groaning, and the West Bank is being stolen.
He added that this attack is in the eastern foothills of the West Bank, which is subjected to the forced displacement of 29 communities, in which 1,700 citizens who were displaced after the seventh of October 2023 live, and the occupation controls 40% of them, and we still live in ghettos under the checkpoints.
Shaaban honored prominent figures in the popular resistance.
For his part, Deputy of the Human Rights Department of the PLO Qassem Awwad said in his speech on behalf of PLO Executive Committee member Ahmed Tamimi, "We are preparing on Friday to launch the International Coalition to defend the rights of our people. He added that the ICC decision is the beginning of the road to hold the politicians of the occupation government accountable. For his part, the head of the National Library, Issa Qaraqe, said that writing is a living ammunition, when we write we see the image of our dream in writing, and we write Palestine with our corpses and blood, indicating that hundreds of intellectuals and innovators were martyred in Gaza. Qaraqe honored creative writers in defending the Palestinian cause. In addition, the head of the Global Campaign for Education, Rifaat Al-Subh, affirmed the right of the Palestinian people to obtain their rights.He said: We must be clear in the face of colonialism, which aims to subjugate people through the use of all means of domination, adding that the occupation continues to impose a permanent colonial reality through the seizure of land and aggression on the capabilities of our people, stressing that the Palestinian cause is central and solidarity with it must be strengthened, and real peace must be achieved by ending the occupation. Abdullah al-Zaghari, president of the Prisoners' Club, said, "We want the international system to restore its legal role in order to implement all resolutions related to the Palestinian cause. He added that our people in Gaza are being exterminated, and our prisoners are being tortured, violated and humiliated, noting that 45 members of the prisoner movement have been martyred since the beginning of the war on the Gaza Strip. Al-Zaghari honored a group of prisoners who are creative writers in defending the Palestinian cause.
The Director General of the Palestine Institute for National Security Research, Habis Al-Sharouf, said that academics have used their pens to communicate the voice of Palestine, and have contributed to increasing and spreading human awareness of the Palestinian cause, and the world has become closer to understanding our cause.
The event included honoring the Minister of Culture and a group of academics and media professionals who were creative in defending the Palestinian cause, opening an exhibition of paintings and visiting the Yasser Arafat Museum in cooperation with the Ministry of Culture.
